Most of us are accustom to using wood made from trees, but this months speaker, Gil Samreny, showed slides of his entry in the state fair. He made a tree from wood. It was quite a large tree weighting around 400#. He then carved leaves and a face in it. Because of the rules of the furniture competition he had to add a cabinet on top of it so it was considered furniture. He also showed slides of other projects he has made, and of him and Sam Maloof when he visited Sam at his shop before Sam died.
