About 26 members and spouses were present at today’s picnic and 2×4 contest. As always the club supplied the barbecue and drinks while all the rest of the delicious food was brought by members. This is a great social event and I wish more members participated, they don’t know what they are missing. I forgot to take a picture of all the food till it was almost all gone.
There were 7 entries in the 2×4 contest.
- 1st prize went to Mike Swart for his little mermaid treasure chest. -$75
- 2nd prize went to Reuel Detweller for his racoon -$50
- 3rd prize was for Terry Bear’s table -$25
John Philips brought a basket full of the chair he made and then tried to sit in to test it, oops. Joe Channey made a tree of ornaments the made while practicing turning soft wood. Andy Dilorenzo brought some wine and cheese, all wood, and even a knife he made. John Darovec had pictures of the cup rack that is already hanging in his house. Floyd Yoder got as far a gluing up panels but because of family obligations he ran out of time.
The beautiful bird in a tree turning was not entered in the contest because it was made from podocarpus wood, not a 2×4. Marvin Stoltzfus made it but he is giving it away before the next regular meet and we all wanted to see it before it is gone.
Many thanks to Joe Mannke for his hard work putting it togeather.
