There were 33 members in attendance at the meeting and three guests (Bill Snell, Patt Kerr and Al Rosenfeld) for a total of 36 people in attendance.
Presentation
This evening’s presentation was by Duke Clancy of Victoria Rose Furniture Renewal. He discussed the art of finishing and refinishing wood. He demonstrated how to fix a chipped piece of finished wood and make it look good. Using several products, sold under the brand name Mohawk, he created a seamless repair. The Mohawk products are sold by the Richelieu company (www.Richelieu.com) formerly Cabinetware on Cattleman Rd. Some of the items he demonstrated wereepoxy putty sticks, grain texture pens, powder toners, Blendal stick (crayon-like used to touch up wood), spray toner, spray lacquer and others.
Business Meeting and Announcements
The FWWC Board of Directors met on September 30, 2016 and bring to you two major changes for the club – 1) Webmaster will become a Board member; and 2) By voting on six ways to best use the additional money in our treasury, we decided to start by decreasing dues and by raffling items of greater value at our monthly meetings.
The Board also decided to buy a digital camera for presentations, set up a suggestion box, and consider “joining” the Sarasota Carvers in a booth at the Sarasota County Fair.
Nametags:John Philips brought in the redone nametags and they now have a magnetic back.
