There were 13 members (one new one signed up at the meeting). This Carvers meeting was focused on sharpening and honing the tools. With his new cataract-free eyes, Richard showed that some simple honing on a leather strop can produce a super sharp edge, grinding is rarely needed. He demonstrated the big difference between seemingly sharp and actually polished sharp. Since there wasn’t much carving this time, no one was hurt and no wood had blood red stains.
The next meeting will be June 13, 2024 moving to a new regular schedule being the day after the regular monthly meeting. The plan is to carve a little bird. The rough out will be supplied.
