Monthly Meeting June2024
Announcements
Guest
We had one guest, Allan Holmes from Ohio, who doesn’t know why he moved here to be near his kids, but he is glad to find the club. President Pat had him introduce himself.
Come and Get It!
Pat has some stuff to give away. A bandsaw that has a broken trunnion, but everything else works. He even has some blades for it. And some rolls of sandpaper. Get it before it goes in the trash!
Program

Style
Construction
Table slides
Steam Bending
Keyi-Jo explained what makes Dutch Crafters Amish Furniture different from other furniture stores.
They have their furniture made in over 100 different Amish manufactures in Pennsylvania and Indiana. It is then shipped to a single finishing company so no matter where it is made, it matches the other pieces that were ordered.
Show and Tell
Joe Mankke made a rack to display his grandson’s swimming ribbons.
Walnut scratch remover
Terry Bair uses a real walnut to rub out scratches on furniture
Three dimensional charcuterie board
Alan Blair attended a one day class, at Woodcraft Store in Clearwater, conducted by Alex Snodgrass the famous bandsaw guru. Eight hours, 8 students, 2 bandsaws, 1 jointer, 1 planer, 4 glue ups. He plans to make some more, and we hope he will do a program teaching us how.
Neil is building houses without a contractors license
But the birds don't mind.
Finishing up projects
John Theimer brought some items from his program last month, which he has finished fixed or modified since then, and a model airplane for a friend that is learning to fly.
Pat Kerr showed a rosewood bowl with inlaid shells on the edge. He plans to turn it a little thinner. The other picture is the beginning of another bowl for his other daughter.
Camphor bowl
Tom Falcone made this natural edge bowl from a branch of a camphor tree.
Drawings
Judy Stickney, Tom Falcone, and Allan Holmes won door prizes.
Alvin Castro won the drawing for a WoodPecker straight edge.
Larry Simmons had his ticket drawn for the 50/50 cash drawing which was $240. Unfortunately he drew the wrong card so the money rolls over to next month.
One last Announcement
Pat spoke to salesman from Associated Hardwood in Tampa. They have some exotic woods as well as American woods. There is a $300 minimum order and it would have to be delivered to Pat's shop since they don't deliver to residences.
