There were 26 members present and 11 guests. Many of the guests were from the Sarasota Turners group.
Presentation
David James, General Manager of Advantage Lumber, opened the meeting. This company has been in business 23 years, is located in 4 states and Brazil, mostly imports exotics, and specializes in decking, siding and molding.
Jason Peters told us about the types of wood they market. He presented slides showing the appearance of each wood and its Janke hardness number, from African mahoghany to zebra wood. He explained how they are careful to import only sustainable woods. Then he took us on a tour of the facility, showing us the storage yard and the milling facility.
